Baking Classes on Request
Traditional Baking of Wholesome Breads - You can do it!
Learn how to:
- bake bread without yeast;
- choose the right ingredients;
- start and maintain a natural levain (sourdough);
- prepare optimal starter doughs;
- identify common mistakes and how to avoid them;
- tell when the dough is ready for baking;
- prepare bread loaves;
- prepare and take home your own starter dough;
- and bake your own daily bread.
Red Rooster conducts baking classes at the bakery. You will bake the course breads in our wood fired brick oven but all instructions apply to breads baked in your kitchen range! The course is hands-on, all course material, refreshments, a great lunch (we usually bake fresh, hot pizza to your liking and have a glass of wine with it for those who like it), sourdough chef, and the breads you have baked are included. Dress casual - flour is used liberally! Please bring a pair of shoes to change if it is a rainy or snowy day.
Booking a class:
Class size is a minimum of 4, a maximum of 6 participants, and need to booked as a group. To book a group, please call 250-560-5000 or email: monika@redroosterbakery.ca
Full-day Course dates:
Classes are held on Sundays on appointment and start at 9:00am, with a lunch break mid day, and usually end around 4:00pm.
Course materials:
All materials, refreshments, flour and pizza stuff included. Bring a hair net, scarf, or hat, a note pad, and an inquisitive spirit.
Course fee: $100 / participant. (50% deposit of total course fee required at time of booking)

Red Rooster is a proud supplier of bread to Cimo Mediterranean Restaurant and Ave Maria Health Food and Specialties, 1638 20th Avenue, PG.
Of course, you’ll find our breads at the Prince George Farmers’ Market of which we are a founding member. The Prince George Farmers' Market at the corner of Third Avenue and George Street is open Year-Round, every Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
We also take special orders. Minimum order is one dozen of one type of bread.
